How to save 2 hours a week

How to save 2 hours a week

Time.

I’m pretty sure it’s something we’d all like a little more of! When it comes to saving time each week, doing things differently with food prepping, planning and shopping can really make a difference.

With my time saving tips below, you’ll find an extra couple of hours each week, keep healthy eating on track and save yourself some dollars too!

Online grocery shopping

It’s easy to lose hours each week making a daily trip to the shops for groceries. Searching for parking, dealing with the crowds and waiting in long checkout lines. Not just time consuming but stressful too.

Getting your groceries delivered is one of the best time-saving hacks going around, one that can save you money too. Put your order in and boom, have the groceries at your door the next morning!

While it might take a little time to set up your online account and navigate your way around the store’s website the first few times, in the long run, it’s a great time saver.

A huge benefit of online shopping is once you’ve set up a list of the groceries you buy on a regular basis, you can just go back to that master list each session. Adding or subtracting items as you need.

Online grocery shopping doesn’t just streamline the process, it helps to remove the temptation of in-store marketing tactics have you putting things in your trolley you don’t actually need. It’s also easier to look for and compare a larger range of specials online than in a store.

I’m a fan of Harris Farm, check out their grocery delivery service here.

Prep and freeze simple lunch meals

When done right, prepping freezer friendly meals can save you time, calories and money. Getting onboard with freezer meals means you and your family can have nutritious, delicious meals without leaving you exhausted every night.

Get your freezer stocked and time back with these tips:

>> Stock up on freezing supplies

Make sure you’ve got everything you need to package your freezer meals on hand. Parchment paper, tin foil, freezer containers and a marker for labelling food.

Cooking in bulk is key to freezer meal success so make sure you have large mixing bowls, measuring instruments and pots on hand to cook large quantities.

If you have one, a food processor will save time slicing and dicing veggies.

>>Choose simple, healthy meal ideas

Things don’t need to be complicated. Stick with simple, healthy meals you can prep quickly with minimal fuss. To avoid overwhelm, just pick one or two freezer friendly meals for the week to start. My bazella with rice is a tasty cook now, eat later choice!

Setting aside time to meal prep does save time over the week but if you’re struggling to carve out a few hours, a really simple way is to just double the quantity of whatever you’re making for dinner and freeze the leftovers.

If you’re cooking anyway, it hardly takes any time to double the amount. After a few nights, you’ll have the freezer stocked for the coming week.
